Talking in the cartoon are two man, who are a boy and his father. The boy is worried about the expectable impacts the disposal of the nuclear waste may cause, while his father is telling him that what matters now should be emptying the dustbin in front of them.
It is the profound implication beneath the surface of this simple and sarcastic drawing that ought to be taken into account: one who can cope with small tasks first can then undertake something big. Taking a look around, we can easily find some students dreaming of their brilliant future but unwilling to attend classes or to do homework, some netizens worried about the fate of our nation but refusing to better themselves first, some officials claiming their determinations in making our society a better place but reluctant to give up parts of their own interests. Such phenomena collectively reflect the fact that some modern citizens, especially a number of young people, lack the spirit of "think big, down to earth". This can be chiefly due to the fact that these people are so lazy and blind that they are only in want of a fruitful outcome but never make any efforts. As a famous saying goes, you reap what you sow. Those who wants to fly but forget the power of the gravity will be sure to fall down on the ground and hurt badly as a result.
According, I suppose it is imperative for us young people to understand that all that matters to us now should be to better ourselves. Not only are we supposed to learn knowledge and to enhance our abilities, we also need to take seriously the assignments confronting us. I believe only after each of us manages to strengthen himself or herself will the problems worrying us now be settled in the days to come.
We can see from the cartoon that there is a father talking with his son. Havingheard his son’s words that “ Dad, I am a bit worried about disposing of nuclearweapon.” The father replies that “ If you can empty the dustbin here, you cando anything” and points the garbage can beside him.
Funny and common as the conversation sounds, it reflects that the father intends to advise his son to do small things beforeundertaking big. Definitely, doing small things is the first step of success and will lay root for doing something big. By doing something small, we are able to accumulate experience, master skills and train ourselves to be more patient. In other words, we can be well prepared for further challenges in the course of fulfilling small things. By contrast, those who desire to do something big at once will constantly be haunted by disappointment, frustrations or even failures, as with opportunities-“something big”- showing up , they can hardly seize them because of the lack of experience and confidence stems from doing small things. Taking the picture presented above as a case in point, how can the little boy succeed in disposing of nuclear weapons if he even doesn’t know how to empty the dustbin?
From my perspective, under no circumstances should we undervalue the power of doing small things. Instead, we should regard small things as the source of experience, skills and the prerequisite of success. “Great achievement only belongs to those who can do small things perfectly.” Aristotle also used to say.
第一段重点是一定要描述图画内容,这点在题干中也有强调(with a brief description of the picture)。
第二段阐明观点,而观点在题干中事实上给得很清楚:the importance of doing small things before undertaking something big.
